From the oldest and most precious vineyards of the winery, located in the heart of the Valpolicella region where exposure to the sun is best, the best grapes of each year are selected to obtain this prestigious wine, which holds the honor place of the farm’s wine production.
The approximately three-year-long ageing process in small French durmast wood barrels and the ten/twelve-month-long refinement in bottle confer to this wine an intense ruby red color, a special body and a bouquet reminiscent of spices; nonetheless, the Amarone “I Quadretti” maintains the typical scent and flavor of cherry and wild berry.
It goes very well with important main courses such as wild game, braised beef, grilled meat, any kind of cold meat and salami and mature, spicy-flavored cheese varieties. It is an excellent meditation wine.
To give its best, this wine with a strong personality needs to be uncorked in advance. Serve at a temperature of 18° C
Amarone della Valpolicella, usually known as Amarone, is a typically rich Italian dry red wine made from the partially dried grapes of the Corvina (40% – 70%), Rondinella (20% – 40%) and Molinara (5% – 25%) varieties. The wine was assigned Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) status in December 1990. On 4 December 2009, Amarone and Recioto della Valpolicella were promoted to the status of Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (DOCG). Total production for sale (including Recioto) in 2008 was 8.57 million bottles. The name Amarone, in Italian, literally means "the Great Bitter"; this was originally to distinguish it from the Recioto produced in the same region, which is sweeter in taste.
